I was looking a lot at Giotto when I painted this because he does strangely scaled temples open to welcoming landscapes. I find the blue in this painting very soothing and it's one of my very few pieces without a figurative element which allows you to meditate on spacial dynamics. I enjoy the paradox of neither indoor or outdoor. This piece is part of a series I am doing about home and belonging "the connectivist's dilemma" about integrating myself as an expat in Scotland.
