A figurative/landscape painter, my imagery maps the dynamics of opposition. I use urban peripherals and unusual perspectives on the female form to enter liminal spaces between perception and reality, subjectivity and place. Seeking out quiet moments in banal parking lots or forested areas behind shopping centers I explore gaps between emptiness and fullness, or the seen and unseen in attempt to transcend realms of normalized identity. Superimposing characters from previous art historical genres such as Soviet Socialist Realism into my landscapes, I conjunct history and the Now, while I often paint my own form to disrupt the gaze and challenge subject/object splits.
